With a compatible printer, one could use software that will be developed for Linux, MacOS, and Windows. This metering software will connect with KPS, and get the rate for the specs the customer inputs. Once that happens, the customer will print the postage directly on an envelope, or a stamp when using a supported label printer.
When using metering services, the postage will have a 10% discount, and will provide for tracking of the postal article. The tracking code will always be NIN.date.time. This will allow for a unique tracking number that will be provided to the software at time of printing. Since KPS issues the tracking number, creating a counterfeit postage stamp with a tracking number will not go through since KPS will not have that number in the database.
Metering Services will cost $5/month, and will require a computer, a printer or label printer, and an internet connection. The service will automatically renew each month unless the customer cancels.
